Pardon the pun, but that was not your average game of cricket.

Without a doubt, the two best teams were at Lord's cricket ground to contest the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

England, the best all-round team and predicted to win this tournament from the beginning, crushed Australia in their semi-final match and arrived humming with confidence.

Underdogs New Zealand, the smartest, best-led team, pulled off an upset win over India in their semi, a game so extraordinary its been called the Miracle at Manchester.

Both sides would have been certain of their ability to foot it with the other. And they were both right.

In the end, they almost couldn't be separated. A tie, then a Super Over, and a win awarded on a technicality. No losers, but only one winner. England's Eion Morgan got to lift the trophy while Kane Williamson and the Black Caps applauded like the sportsmen they are.

By common consensus, this was the greatest final ever seen in a World Cup and maybe even the greatest game of 50 over cricket ever played.

Congratulations to England. And bloody well done to the Black Caps.
