Changes to Maori health provision have left some parts of the sector disgruntled, the Nelson-Marlborough District Health Board says.
Te Kaunihera o Nga Neehi Maori - the National Council of Maori Nurses - complained that Maori organisations don't have a say on how public health money is spent.
At the top of the South Island, eight Maori health providers are becoming one collective, called Te Piki Oranga.
DHB general manager Harold Wereta acknowledged there were consequences for the Council of Maori Nurses.
He said that when the health board was making changes, it expected people to change.
Mr Wereta said despite the shake-up, funding for Maori health providers in the the Nelson-Marlborough District Health Board region won't be less than the original budget of $2.8 million.
