Watson says he can bat, but can he bowl?

The Australian allrounder Shane Watson has called on selectors to decide what role he'll play in the upcoming Test cricket series with India, and finally hinted that he could be open to a move down the order.

Watson, a precious commodity in the Australian team due to his reliable top order batting and wicket-taking ability, has battled injury throughout his career as he struggles to manage his workload.

The 30-year-old is currently sidelined after suffering a hamstring injury while bowling in last month's South African tour and he admits he would like to know as early as possible what the selectors' expectations are ahead of the series-opening Boxing Day Test.

Watson is confident he'll be fit to bat on Boxing Day, but says he is unlikely to be able to bowl.

Watson has consistently rejected calls to move down the order to lessen his workload, but his latest injury setback may have helped soften his stance.
