The former Hurricanes and Crusaders loosie Thomas Waldrom wants to play rugby for England.

The 27-year-old number eight, who now plays for Leicester Tigers, was looking to sit out the 36-month residency requirement before making himself available for Martin Johnson's side.

However he's just found out his grandmother was born in England, which qualifies him straight away.

Waldrom, who has been in outstanding form for the Tigers, told the Leicester Mercury newspaper that it would be an honour to turn out for England and even make this year's World Cup squad.
