Courtney claims V8 award double

7:03 am on 7 December 2010

Just a day after claiming his maiden V8 Supercar title, James Courtney has made it a double by winning the sport's best and fairest award - the Barry Sheene medal.

Awarded to the driver who shows outstanding leadership, personality, fan appeal and sportsmanship throughout the season, Courtney was a popular choice at the V8s end of season awards dinner in Sydney on Monday.

It completes a unique double for the Ford star, after his 14th place in Sunday's final race of the season was enough to hold off the challenge of Holden's Jamie Whincup to win the 2010 driver's title.
