Deysel banned for stamping

The South African flanker Jean Deysel has been suspended for three weeks for stamping in his Sharks side's 30-25 away win over the Crusaders in the last round of Super Rugby.

Deysel was red carded and sent off for using his boot in the face of Jordan Taufua 16 minutes into the game, but the top of the table Sharks still managed their first win in Christchurch, despite playing more than three quarters of the game with 14 players.

Deysel can't play again until after June the 7th, so he'll miss Friday's match at the Blues and the next week at home to the Stormers in Durban, as well as a club game the following week.

He apologised after the match to Taufua, who accepted the apology, and his good disciplinary record also helped sway the SANZAR judicial officer Jannie Lubbe, who reduced Deysel's sentence from the usual five-week ban to just three.
