The New Zealand rugby sevens team has lost its lead in the IRB series after finishing 4th in the latest round in Tokyo.
New Zealand was beaten 17-12 by Fiji in the semi-finals and then lost to England 21-12 in the play-off for third.
Fiji beat South Africa 33-26 in the final.
With 3 rounds remaining South Africa top the standings with 116 points, 2 ahead of New Zealand with Fiji another 19 points back in third.
The next round is in Hong Hong next weekend.
