The American golfer Jim Furyk fired a six-under-par 65 to take the first round lead at the Tampa Bay Championship in Florida.
Furyk fired seven birdies and a bogey to finish a shot ahead of Canadian Stephen Ames.
Americans Jonathan Byrd and Kenny Perry and Australia's Matthew Goggin were all on four-under, two shots off the pace.
The 2003 U.S Open winner Furyk is aiming for his 14th victory on the PGA Tour and says he is benefiting from an extended winter break.
