Last year's successful World Championship have helped Bowls New Zealand and Christchurch secure the right to stage a four year extravaganza of bowls, including the 2016 World Championship.
The world championships brought $5.6 million in local earnings to Christchurch last year and the city council says 2016's should generate even more.
Bowls New Zealand's chief executive Kerry Clark says Christchurch will also host the World Singles Champion of Champions in 2013 and 2014 and the Asia Pacific championships in 2015.
Clark says they were granted because the world body is confident Bowls New Zealand has the capability, venues, volunteers and expertise to do another outstanding job.
