Children's charity KidsCan is reintroducing milk in schools for some children.
At the beginning of the new school term next week, 11 lower-decile schools will launch the scheme, under which more than 2000 young people will get half a litre of milk per week.
KidsCan chief executive Julie Helson says the scheme will complement other programmes that provide schoolchildren in lower-income areas with food and clothing.
Ms Helson says the milk will be delivered twice a week and each child will have their own personal cup to drink from.
