The Transport Agency has given approval for consultation to start with Kapiti Coast residents affected by the building of a four-lane highway - three weeks behind schedule.
The proposed MacKays to Peka Peka Expressway is part of the Government's $2.4 billion overhaul of State Highway 1 into Wellington.
NZTA says consultation was delayed so options for the route could be narrowed down.
Details of the possible routes will be issued at a public meeting on 28 November.
Consultation is for 10 weeks from that date.
