The Government is to spend $24 million on providing four new operating theatres to boost the amount of non-urgent surgery being done in central Auckland.
Health Minister Tony Ryall says the new theatres at Greenlane clinical centre will be for elective or non-urgent surgery only, to enable more non-urgent operations to be done.
Mr Ryall says Auckland has lagged behind other centres in this work, but has picked up recently.
