One person is dead and three are injured - one seriously - after a car crashed on a rural road near Masterton tonight.
Emergency services were called to Upper Waingawa Road in Kaituna at 6.20pm.
Earlier, a person died after a car and a ute collided in the Bay of Plenty at the intersection of Bell Road and State Highway Two near Nukuhou.
Three others are in hospital as a result of that crash.
Emergency services were called to the crash at 4.40pm.
Diversions are in place while the Serious Crash Unit investigates.
