Police said the two women confronted a group of five people who were attempting to break into their car on Bowen Avenue in Central Auckland.

The group allegedly assaulted the two women and then placed them in the boot of a stolen car.

When police tried to pull the car over for another reason, they fled - before driving off a bridge and down a bank near Ramarama.

The two victims were found in the boot with moderate injuries.

In the Auckland Youth Court this morning, three teenagers were remanded in custody without plea until Monday.

A 20-year-old woman charged with kidnapping and aggravated robbery was granted interim name suppression and was also remanded in custody until Monday.

A 13-year-old is being dealt with through Youth Aid.
