Food prices fall in December

Food prices have fallen, led by declines in meat and non-alcoholic drinks.

Official figures show prices fell 0.8 percent in December when compared with November.

Meat, chicken, and fish prices dropped 1.5 percent, while non-alcoholic beverages fell about 3 percent.

On the other hand, fruit, vegetable and ready-to-eat meals rose a touch.

On an annual basis, food prices climbed 0.6 percent in the year to December.
