Woman jailed for part in drug ring

A woman who helped run a drug-dealing ring in Wellington has been jailed for nearly three years, in the Wellington District Court today.

Jody Marie Turner, 24, who had pleaded guilty, was sentenced on 19 charges, including five of conspiring to sell BZP and two of conspiring to sell cannabis.

Turner was caught during a police sting, Operation Nebraska, and more than 2000 BZP pills with an estimated street value of between $83,000 and $140,000 were found in her house.

Her lawyer said she was naive and fell under the influence of her partner, who was also involved in the drug operation.

Judge Peter Hobbs discounted her jail term in account of good references from many people about her, the guilty plea and her remorse.
