A chemical spill has closed a busy main road ahead of Auckland's rush hour.
A police spokesperson said Waipuna Road, near the intersection with Mt Wellington Highway, was closed while firefighters dealt with the spill from a truck.
They said the chemical was a dye, and the main issue was with its collection and disposal as it could not be flushed into the stormwater system.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area, which would possibly be closed through the rush hour, the spokesperson said.
