A Dunedin demolition worker has been charged with murdering a man at a city centre bar ten days ago.
Ryan Court, 35, was found in the toilet area of the Craft Bar in the Octagon after an alleged assault.
The homicide inquiry focused on a group of three men, and in particular one seen leaving that part of the bar around the time of the assault without a shirt on.
One of the group, Stephen Fernyhough, 25, was initially charged with assault but on Tuesday morning the police upgraded that to a charge of murder.
Mr Fernyhough briefly appeared in Dunedin District Court and pleaded not guilty.
He is due to reappear in court on 20 May.
