The Problem Gambling Foundation is asking Auckland Council how it will deal with problem gambling when it is no longer doing the job.
The foundation has lost its contract with the Ministry of Health and almost 80 percent of its funding.
Chief executive Graeme Ramsey said the council needs to figure out how it will deal with problem gamblers when the foundation's contract runs out.
In May, the foundation will deliver a report to the community development and safety committee about how the council can deal with the issue.
Mr Ramsey said he thinks it will be a huge challenge, but the council has the infrastructure to achieve it.
