A teenager who recorded an extremely drunk 17-year-old allegedly being raped initially thought it was a joke, the New Plymouth District Court has heard.
The 18-year-old, who has name suppression, pleaded guilty on Thursday to making two recordings on his cellphone of the incident at a party on 11 October.
Crown Prosecutor Sarah Law told the court the teen made two brief recordings of two other teenagers having sex with the 17-year-old in a bedroom at a party in Oakura.
Ms Law said the girl was extremely intoxicated and incapable of consenting. She was unaware she was being recorded.
The lawyer said the 18-year-old boy later posted the recordings on a private Facebook page which devastated the victim when she found out.
She said he initially thought the incident was funny and a joke, but has since shown remorse.
He has been remanded on bail until sentencing on 5 December.
The pair charged with rape will appear in court in January.
