Lotto Powerball's $33 million jackpot was won by one ticket on Saturday night.
The ticket was sold in the Auckland suburb of Ponsonby.
The Lotteries Commission said the the jackpot is the largest individual prize won in the game's history.
The winner is the second big one this week after a Christchurch ticket won $22 million in the Big Wednesday draw.
Both winners are yet to claim their prize.
Commission spokesperson Emilia Mazur said Lotto sales rose to about $28 million this week, about two-thirds higher than a low jackpot week.
