A search for two bodies off the coast of New Plymouth is officially over.
Students Stephen Kahukaka-Geye and Felipe Melo both 17, were swept into the sea off Paritutu Rock on 8 August and instructor Bryce Jourdain, 42, jumped in after them.
The body of Felipe, a Brazilian exchange student, was found more than a week ago.
Sergeant Andrew Ross says the bodies could now be anywhere.
Intensive searches along the coast has found no trace of them and the search has been called off.
