Otago arts festival to be more 'intimate'

6:12 am on 4 August 2012

Otago arts festival expects performances this year to have a more intimate feel because larger venues are out of service.

The 10 day festival is held every second year in October and the programme for the next was announced on Friday night in Dunedin.

This year's offerings include a 20 piece Brazilian dance company, Bale Folcolorico da Bahia , who are performing at the London Olympics, the Vienna Boys Choir and a Samuel Beckett piece called Play.

Director Alec Wheeler says the mix is eclectic and smaller venues are being used because of the redevelopment of the Town Hall complex and Early Settlers Museum.
