International gamblers help boost Sky City profit

Sky City Entertainment Group says the pickup in the number of international high-rollers using its casinos has continued.

At its annual meeting, Sky City told investors that first quarter revenue increased 3.3% on the same period a year ago. Underlying profit rose 3.7%.

Chief executive Nigel Morrison says revenue at its flagship Auckland casino is recovering well, complemented by a strong rise in gamblers visiting from offshore.

Mr Morrison says he'd be disappointed if Sky City didn't meet market expectations for a full year profit of about $127.4 million.

That compares with last year's underlying profit of $129 million.
