Episode 153 features an interview with ex pat Kiwi musician John Metcalfe talking about his multi faceted career in the UK music business and also recording his solo album, The Appearance Of Colour released on Peter Gabriel’s Real World record label. John Metcalfe has a diverse portfolio of musical skills that is the product of his classical music education playing viola as well as working with a number of contemporary English pop artists, writing orchestral arrangements for the likes of Blur, Coldplay, Morrissey and Peter Gabriel. His classical background saw him form the Duke String Quartet as well playing and recording as a one-time member of guitarist Vini Reilly’s Durutti Column who recorded for the iconic Manchester based label, Factory Records.
