Topics - the pumping of $212 million into 14 roading projects, designed to keep the provinces happy and 20 years sooner than would have happened without the funding. Funding for roads from Otago to Northland is from the Future Investment Fund - called the asset sales slush fund, by the opposition. Labour's Trevor Mallard says proposals to reunify Pasifika families in New Zealand isn't a bid for the Pasifika vote. Labour's new immigration policy is targeting Pacific groups with proposals to speed up family reunification and raise the pay of seasonal workers - many of whom come from the islands.
