Greenpeace is calling for New Zealand to lead by example and be the first country to ban plastic drink bottles.
It says a "failing recycling and waste system" means a good proportion of the country's plastic waste ends up in landfills or the sea and it's time to get rid of what it calls "the scourge" of single-use plastic.
