The Friday before Christmas is statistically one of the worst days of the year for drink driving, and police will be out in numbers breath testing drivers. The last couple of weekends in Auckland was an appalling one according to police with 168 alleged drink drivers caught in the Counties Manukau area alone. We speak to Tamaki Makaurau road policing manager Scott Webb. The NSW Premier declared a state of emergency for the next seven days, including Christmas Day due to the many bushfires raging on in Australia. Following the Whakaari / White Island eruption Workplace Relations and Safety Minister Iain Lees Galloway has encouraged people to check whether adventure companies are registered before using them. But as Stuff reports those in the industry say many operators don't fit the definition of adventure activities so don't have to be registered.
