Following Māori language week, there's real momentum behind the idea of compulsory te reo in schools. But how have similar schemes from overseas played out? A 2015 seismic report identified the Carterton Clock tower structure as being earthquake-prone, and it's been under repair for much of this year. Once that work's completed, however, the REAL decision has to be made: the tower will be repainted. And the town will decide what colour. When advertising copywriter Joshua Thompson saw the writing on the wall, and was called to a meeting with the top brass at his company, he decided on something unconventional for his support person: he hired a clown.
