How could supermarkets reduce the amount of plastic they use? A new scheme aimed at preventing financially unsound companies from winning big contracts with lowball offers is in the offering. Following Māori language week, there's real momentum behind the idea of compulsory te reo in schools. But how have similar schemes from overseas played out? A 2015 seismic report identified the Carterton Clock tower structure as being earthquake-prone, and it's been under repair for much of this year. Once that work's completed, however, the REAL decision has to be made: the tower will be repainted. And the town will decide what colour. When advertising copywriter Joshua Thompson saw the writing on the wall, and was called to a meeting with the top brass at his company, he decided on something unconventional for his support person: he hired a clown.
