Stratford councillors have officially decided that their town will be associated formally with William Shakespeare at Tuesday Meeting of council - there was no opposition. A piece on the Newsroom website reveals just how much financial firepower property developers threw around in the 2016 mayoral race. Dr Simon Chapple from Victoria University joins us to talk about whether this is a problem, and how it can be addressed. Fran O'Sullivan had a good column in yesterday's New Zealand Herald about chief executives in New Zealand, and whether we're starstruck by overseas CEOs. A bid to change the Basin Reserve's name to "Support Women's Sport Basin Reserve" appeals to have fallen short, but the organisers aren't giving up just yet. Goldsmith's University of London, clearly a VERY green univbersity, is phasing out single-use plastics plastics and installing more solar panels to power its buildings in New Cross, as part of a move to become carbon neutral by 2025. Beef products will no longer be available in the institution's cafes and shops when the academic year begins in September.
