Prescription drug advertising

A recent Consumer NZ survey shows that 57 per cent of kiwis support a ban on prescription medicine advertising. Currently only the US and NZ allow this practice.

The medical industry has long advocated for a ban but supporters say it increases awareness of medicines.

Professor Les Toop is a GP and a researcher at the University of Otago and joins us to explain the problem as he sees it.
