A survey by the Council of Trade Unions found 41 per cent of the more than 1000 respondents said their income was not keeping up with the cost of living and they feel they're becoming worse off. Yet, wage inflation is running at 2 per cent compared to an annual lift of 1.7 per cent in the Consumer Price Index. However, those who are worse off are those who don't own their own homes.
