The Panel with Julia Whaipooti and Ben Thomas (Part 1)

From The Panel, 4:03 pm on 17 July 2019

It's been called a climate change policy breakthrough. Agriculture looks set to join the Emissions Trading Scheme, but under cosy deal that will see them pay 5 percent of emissions costs from 2025. We ask Dave Frame, Professor of Climate Change at Victoria University of Wellington, about whether this is the right way to address the problem. Iwi leader Mike Smith is suing the Government over its inaction on climate change. He says he wanted to see in the ICCC report a target to halve greenhouse has emmission in the next decade but he says this report shows they're not doing enough, fast enough. We talk to Mike Smith, chair of the Climate Change Iwi Leaders Group, about his chances in court. It has been a year since the Wellington Bus Network was re-designed and it's fair to say it's caused a huge upheaval for commuters in the capital. Now one advocate says that Wellington bus users are being ripped off by millions to subsidise under used buses elsewhere in the region. The panellists discuss.
