The government has today released a set of proposed regulations for medicinal cannabis - around cultivation and around standards for medicinal products. Under the proposed new regulatory scheme patients suffering from chronic pain could be prescribed medicinal cannabis at the discretion of the prescriber. Dr Richard Metlicott of the Royal College of General Practitioners talks about the sticking points for GPs and the ideal ways to prescribe. New Zealand is in the midst of far and away the best kakapo breeding season ever. The total adult population of these endangered birds is just 142. But this season 86 chicks have hatched the next best season was 34. It was an outstanding success and then the birds started catching aspergillosis. RNZ's Alison Ballance talks about what's going on with these beautiful birds.
