The Panel with Rodney Hide and Ali Mau (Part 1)

From The Panel, 4:03 pm on 26 June 2019

First Primary School Principals have rejected the government's latest pay offer, despite primary school teachers accepting it. The deal would see most teachers pay go up by 18 percent over three years but would have left principals at smaller schools earning less than senior teachers at larger schools. The panellist give their views on the situation. The bill banning smoking cars with children has passed its first reading but has immeidately faced criticism form the opposition. National says the bill needs major work as it does little to discourage smokers. The panellists tell us what they think of the bill. Wellbeing data for people of different sexual identities has been collected for the first time, in an effort to better understand the wellbeing of New Zealanders of different sexual identities. It has been collected as part of Statistics NZ's 2018 General Social Survey. We ask the general manager of Jason Attewell about the the figures they've collected.
