Academic Ekant Veer has been accused of racism after using the word "Pakeha" when he asked Christchurch City Council to be more inclusive of multicultural communities.
According to Associate Professor Veer, a woman who heard his speech accused him of casual racism. She also said because she was born in New Zealand, she knew better than him what the word meant.
