Living wage, superannuation and the minimum wage are all increasing today - meaning an extra $50 per week for our lowest paid people. But will it make enough of a difference? A controversial bylaw comes into effect in Tauranga today, making it illegal for people to beg or sleep rough within five metres of a shop. Essential oils have been banned from an Auckland primary school after a parent threatened legal action, pointing out that his child's asthma could be triggered by the oils. Author and food and nutrition writer Niki Bezzant explains this is just the latest in a series of mis-steps around what we can and should be doing with essential oils.
