Do we need a postal service?

It'll now cost you $1.30 to post a standard letter. But maybe not many of us will be worried as personal letters only make up 1 per cent of all items sent. NZ Post delivers about 400 million mail items a year - most of that is business mail. Is it just time to put the postal service out of its misery?
