The Panel with Lizzie Marvelly and David Farrar (Part 1)

From The Panel, 4:03 pm on 6 March 2019

New Zealand politicians are debating whether children should have a day off school to protest climate change. Last month thousands of UK school students "went on strike" as part of a global action on cliamte change. The British Prime Minister responded they were wasting valuable lesson time. Kiwi students plan to walk off the classroom on March 15. The panelists give their view. The classic glass milk bottle is making somewhat of a comeback with some dairy farmers decididing to use them instead of plastic. There's a lot public demand to go back to the old way, particularly because it reduces waste. We ask Bill Stansbury, owner of Milk and More, how he makes a viable business out of glass bottles. In a piece in the Herald, teacher Alex Le Long explains her day - and it is so much more than just teaching. "I have been a mum, an aunty, and a sister to some students. I have had to be a doctor, a seamstress, and a counsellor". Thousands of teachers are set to walk off the job in a national day of action on April 3rd. The panelists discuss the pressures of the job.
