A huge swath of bush and pine plantations have been destroyed by a bushfire in the Nelson region. Tinder dry conditions and the continuing hot Summer have created the perfect conditions for this fire. NIWA tells us New Zealand had the second-hottest year on record in 2018. Climate scientist Nava Fedaeff explains the circumstances of the damaging fire and what the country's in for in the future.
