The Auditor-General's report into school spending shows schools are still forking out tens of thousands of dollars on overseas trips, farewell parties, and taking out high-interest loans. The changes being recommended for NZ schools, taking powers away from BOTs and doing away with intermediate schools. The Child Poverty Reduction Bill will be passed soon, its aim "to encourage a focus on child poverty reduction, facilitate political accountability against published targets, require transparent reporting on child poverty levels, and create a greater commitment by Government to address child well-being."
