The cycleways debate continues

A University of Otago study has found investing in cycleways and walking paths encourages people to drive less, based on results from New Plymouth and Hastings.

It's suggested that walking and cycling replaces short commutes, the minority of what we drive overall.

However there has been a lot of unhappiness over cycle lanes in a number of cities including Dunedin. City Councillor Lee Vanervis explains what the problems are there.
