Mental health report recommendations

The mental health and addiction inquiry has released a 200-page report with 40 recommendations for the Health Minister.

It has recommended the government set up a well-being commission, take action on alcohol and drugs and set a 20 percent reduction target in suicide rates by 2030. It says the current Mental Health Act is out of date.

We speak to Professor Roger Mulder from Otago University's department of psychological medicine about what he sees as the most pressing issue in the system.
