Too poor for Christmas

From The Panel, 4:21 pm on 19 November 2018

Figures from the Salvation Army indicate 1-in-5 families can't afford Christmas. This includes the so-called working poor, whose numbers have grown. The $75 in the hand the Government gave some families in the Families Package in the budget has been negated by petrol and rent. Major Pam Waugh is the Salvation Army's head of welfare services and talks about a perfect storm of debt, low wages and high housing costs which cancels the 25th December for many people.
