APEC: nothing to see here

Nothing much came out of APEC in Papua New Guinea and it was the first time a joint communique wasn't delivered at the end of the annual meeting since the first summit in 1989. meanwhile the New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters says the standoff between China and the US in the Pacific is increasingly causing nearby countries to look at New Zealand "with fresh eyes" for leadership and representation.
