The Panel with Julia Hartley Moore and Guy Williams (Part 2)

From The Panel, 4:05 pm on 12 November 2018

The Beatles White Album has been remixed with new technology. Over the years many great albums have been remastered and released, making the musicians a lot of money. We ask the panelists what they think of making old music new again. What the Panelists Julia Hartley Moore and Guy Williams want to talk about. French President Macron has called out nationalism in a speech commemorating Amistice Day. In front of other leaders like Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin and Recep Erdogan, Mr Macron said nationalism is a betryal of patriotism and said isolationism is a grave error. he urged his fellow leaders to place peace above all else. The panelists discuss the difference between nationalism and patriotism, and whether the former is really that bad for countries. Authorities are investigating why a Las Vegas air traffic controller slurred words before becoming unresponsive while working a night shift alone. The FAA is looking into whether overnight shift staffing has to change. Meanwhile, airlines are adding more and more seats to their planes in a move called "densification". Consumer Reports has found 30 per cent of economy class fliers rated their seats uncomfortable. The panelists discuss. Airspace around Wellington Airport was closed for 40 minutes last after a drone was seen dangerously close the runway. Instances like this are being reported more and more. Tim Boyle, General Manager of Air Traffic Services at Airways New Zealand, says there could "catastrophic consequences" if a drone was hit by a plane. He joins the the Panel to dicuss whether specific regaultions are needed to control drone use. The amount of online reports of people using their mobile phones while driving have almost triplped in the last two years. Members of the public have been dobbing others in online. The figures come as the number of crashes involving drivers distracted by phones in the South Island reaches the same level as the total recorded last year. The panelists weigh in on what could be done about the problem.
