Convicted murderer gets $10k compo

The UN Committee Against Torture ruled inmate John Vogel had his human rights breached when he was confined to a cell for 21 days - six days longer than legally allowed. He's the first New Zealander to appeal to the United Nations on a case like this and he has been successful securing $10, 000 compensation. Law professor Andrew Geddis from the University of Otago explains what jurisdiction international courts have over New Zealand courts.
