The Panel with Ali Jones and Damian Chistie (Part 1)

From The Panel, 4:03 pm on 6 September 2018

Embattled Broadcasting Minister Clare Curran struggled to explain her use of a personal Gmail account for Government business in question time yesterday. Ms Curran stumbled though her answer, and the National MP who questioned her, Melissa Lee, says it's time she cleared up the confusion. The panelists give their view on how damaging this could be for the Minister and the Government. Napier residents are being asked not to flush the toilet or take baths to reduce the strain on the wastewater system after torrential rain. It's not the first time Napier's aging system has been overloaded. We talk to Napier local and writer Andrew Frame about the on-going issues. Officials are considering lower speeds and more red light cameras to reduce the road toll in Auckland. Over the last three years the number of deaths and injuries has increased by more than 70 percent. Globally though, crash numbers are down. We ask the panelists if reducing the speed limit to 40km/h would work practically. Longtime activist Penny Bright is spending her final days in hospital. She has inoperable stage three ovarian cancer. Many are celebrating her unrelenting work for transparency in Auckland politics. The panelists tells us their dealings with her.
