The Panel with Niki Bezzant and Neil Miller (Part 2)

From The Panel, 4:05 pm on 4 September 2018

Many scientists now believe the '10,000 steps a day' target is an arbitrary figure, despite the fact it has now become part of many fitness goals. Some say for those who are unwell, 10,000 steps may actually have adverse effects. There are now studies looking into what should be the minimum amount of steps taken a day. We ask the panelists whethe they monitor how much they walk. What the Panelists Niki Bezzant and Neil Miller want to talk about. Former Ukip leader Nigel farage will speak at an event in New Zealand tonight. He faced protests when we arrived in Australia. He'll be speaking, among other things, about Brexit, as a new poll out states 2.6 million voters have now changed their minds about Brexit since the referendum. The panelists give their view on his visit. We've come to the end of winter, Housing Minister Phil Twyford saying he'll meet his winter housing target by the end of September. Bernie Harfleet is an artist involved in the project Give A Kid A Blanket, he returns to The Panel to tell us how many blankets the project gave out to those in need this winter compared to the last few years. Today a diet-related disease symposium has been held in Wellington, featuring global and New Zelaand-specific views. On that theme the panelists discuss the latest food news; an Australian nutritionist listing the foods that leave you wanting more - are salads not satisfying enough to be worth it? And following from yesterday's report about fake honey across the ditch, the ABC looks into more food fraud like coffee, spices, and olive oil not being as advertised.
