Stepping out: how much walking do we have to do?

Many scientists now believe the '10,000 steps a day' target is an arbitrary figure, despite the fact it has now become part of many fitness goals. Some say for those who are unwell, 10,000 steps may actually have adverse effects.

There are now studies looking into what should be the minimum amount of steps taken a day.

We ask the panelists whether they monitor how much they walk.
